Coach Kelly joins the Georgia Red Storm Family, bringing a teacher’s mentality from her fourth grade classroom to the court. She loves teaching young people, and developing their dreams. She resides in Buford, GA with her her two daughters (Jordan and Jaron).

Coach Kelly considers herself to have had a very blessed career as a player, and enjoyed many successes in high school and in college. Below are some of her achievements and accolades.

College Accolades:
1991 – member of Stanford University’s Pac-10 Championship and NCAA Final Four Team
1992 – member of Stanford University’s Pac-10 and National Championship Team and recipient of the Stanford Coaches’ Award
1993 – member of Vanderbilt’s SEC Tourney Championship and NCAA Final Four Team
1995 – member of Vanderbilt’s SEC Tourney Championship Team and
recipient of the Vanderbilt Coaches’ Award
(Never missed an NCAA tournament)
1995 – received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University
2009 – received her Masters’ Degree from Piedmont College
2012 – received specialist degree from Piedmont College

1990 – Parade All-American 4th Team
1990 – Kansas City Star Athlete of the Year
1990 – Greater Kansas City Sports Commission Female Athlete of the Year
1990 – 6A Sub-state Champions

Dougherty’s coaching style is fair, caring, and holds a high level of expectation for her players and herself. In her one year as an assistant coach she helped lead her alma mater, Vanderbilt University, to the sweet 16 during the 96-97 season.

Dougherty and the Georgia Red Storm Staff share a deep love and respect for the positive and competitive spirit of the game of basketball. We look forward to helping your daughter develop into an amazing force to be reckoned with. Get ready, because the STORM is coming for YOU!
